Brenda Langton

For the last 20 years, Brenda Langton has owned and managed Café Brenda located in the Minneapolis’ historic warehouse district. She is noted as being an innovator in vegetarian cuisine, and Café Brenda is recognized among locals as one of the area’s premier establishments. Langton is not only a successful restaurateur, but she also authored Café Brenda Cookbook and is a strong supporter of locally produced foods and the Twin Cities food co-ops.

Chris Ryding

A self taught, award winning chef, Ryding has been involved with natural foods and the environment since the late 1980’s. His natural foods eatery, the Cosmic Café, was a landmark restaurant in Detroit. In 1997, Ryding joined Whole Foods Market, overseeing 15 prepared foods departments in five states and a Chicago-based commissary, and designing and opening new store departments. Ryding joined the grocery co-op industry in 2001—providing tools, resources and support to developing stores.

Susan Jane Cheney

A former member of the Moosewood Restaurant Collective in Ithaca, New York, St. Paul resident Susan Jane Cheney writes and teaches about natural foods. A long-time contributor to Vegetarian Times magazine and other periodicals, she has authored two cookbooks—Breadtime: A Down-to-Earth Cookbook for Bakers and Bread Lovers (Ten Speed Press, Berkeley, CA; 1990, 1998) and Stir Crazy!: More than 100 Quick, Low-Fat Recipes for Your Wok or Stir-fry Pan (Contemporary Books, Chicago, IL; 1998).

Robin Asbell

Robin Asbell is a long-time contributor to the Mix, and as the former Head Chef of the Wedge Deli, she developed many recipes for popular foods still sold today. Her first book, The New Whole Grains Cookbook (Chronicle 2007) is available at your coop, and her second, The New Vegetarian Cookbook (Chronicle 2009) will be. Robin writes for magazines like Vegetarian Times, Better Homes and Gardens Heart Healthy Magazine, Experience Life and Health Magazine. Her popular cooking classes are offered around the region, and she travels to teach across the country.
